Funding Life-Changing Programs
Thanks to your support, we can fun more than 80 life-changing programs, brought to you by our area's incredible network of agencies.
Giving for Good
Some people look at our communities and don't see the needs. They're hidden... but they're there. More than 10,000 families in our county live below the poverty line. And every month, more than 250 families in the Stillwater Area School District alone visit the Valley Outreach food shelf - and nearly half of those needing food are children.
Many serious problems are more common than you might think. One in five of us will be disabled at some point in our lives. One in four of us will suffer mental illness. One in four women will be a victim of domestic violence. And nearly all of us will care for an aging parent or spouse. For people facing these issues, life can be a real struggle - that's where the work of our agency partners makes all the difference.
By giving to the United Way, you're helping make a difference in so many ways. Your gifts go to supporting the programs that address all of these problems, and many more.
Who decides where the money goes? Our fund distribution process is volunteer-run. Every year, people from our community study the needs within our service area, review the programs requesting funding, and decide where the money will have the most impact.
If you'd like to volunteer to serve on our fund distribution committee, please call our office. We'd welcome your involvement!
