The Youth United Way provides local youth with the chance to develop and build teamwork and leadership skills.

Youth United Way - Our Future

The Youth United Way unleashes the talents of high school aged young people who work as a team to raise money and serve our community. They elect their own officers, develop their own policies and select and tackle issues that they decide are important.

Events like the Empty Bowls Dinner and the Silent Art Auction are always a priority, raising the funds needed for local programs that alleviate hunger and serve youth. Past President Jill Ogren invites youth grades 8-12 to join the Youth United Way:

"It's an awesome opportunity to develop leadership skills and make decisions that positively impact our community", says Ogren. "We help a lot of people, and it's very rewarding."

You are the future. Embrace it. Call the United Way office at 651-439-3838.

Meetings are held twice monthly on Mondays, after school hours, from 2:45 p.m to 4:00 p.m. The first fall meeting of the 2008-2009 school year will take place on Monday, Sept, 8th at Stillwater Area High School. Snacks will be provided. Feel free to attend and bring a friend.

Empty Bowls...

building a stronger community
It's become a rite of Spring. Every March, the Youth United Way hosts the Empty Bowls fundraiser. For $20, you get a bowl of soup, donated from one of our wonderful local restaurants, and an empty donated pottery bowl, to remind you that there are still so many hungry people in our community.

This year's event raised more than $3,000 in support of our local Valley Outreach food shelf.

If you'd like to join Youth United Way this fall, please call Corrine in our office at 651-439-3838.
