We are now making preparations for the United Way of Washington County-East annual Community Investment Allocations process. You may have already served as a Community Investment volunteer in the past. If so, THANK YOU! If you have never served in this capacity, it's a great opportunity and important way to support our community.
According to a volunteer from 2013:
"I enjoyed the opportunity to give back to my community. I didn't realize that so many of our neighbors were struggling and needed our help. We are so lucky to live in the beautiful St. Croix Valley and I want to be sure it stays a strong and healthy community in the future. I highly recommend this volunteer opportunity!"
Community Investment volunteer panels participate in the process to make important, and often difficult decisions, regarding grant applications from partner agencies. Each volunteer is provided with background information and training, program applications to review, and is assigned to one of four "panels" of 10-15 volunteers. The panels are: Basic Needs, Health, Youth, and Self-Sufficiency. Each panel is led by an experienced United Way board member who will guide the group in reviewing applications and come to consensus on funding recommendations for our partners.
The process requires attendance at TWO meetings (with agency visits in between meetings) on the following schedule:
First meeting is on TUESDAY, March 11, 5-8:30 PM
Second meeting TUESDAY April 8, 5-8:30 PM
Please join us as we achieve our local United Way mission to "unite our community and local resources to give each person the opportunity to build a better life." To get involved, please return this application by US MAIL, email attachment (to email@example.com) or fax (to 651.439.8487) by February 15, 2014.
